The Guildford County School Musicians

As one of a handful of Music Colleges across the country, Guildford County School aspires to:

  • Be a centre of excellence in music, sharing expertise with others as widely as possible

  • Raise standards of achievement across the curriculum by understanding how people learn

  • Develop creative, innovative and dynamic approaches to teaching

  • Sustain a culture which promotes performance, appreciation and participation in music

  • Devise opportunities for students and members of the local community to continue learning
  • Prepare young people for opportunities in the arts, education and employment
  • Provide training for others which draws upon the school's own constantly developing practice

The Musicians, prepared by members of the music staff led by Director of Music, Caroline Gale and music teachers Andy Taylor and Jennie Dale, will include a flute choir, ukulele ensemble and chamber music trios comprising Peter Leighton, Nicholas Ho, Michael Lloyd and Tingda Hong, Dasha Barber, Lizzie Sanderson.

Caroline Gale was recently awarded the accolade of Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year.  She was chosen by a panel  of professionals from the music field after being nominated by students at the County School who put her name forward.  She received her award at the Music for Youth School Prom at the Albert Hall.

This lunchtime event will continue the practice in GSMFs of a local school's gifted musicians entertaining Guildford's residents and demonstrating that music in all its forms is in safe hands in the young people of today and their teachers.
